I've often said that stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things is the best way to grow, discover and transform. The same is said about travelling; the adventure doesn't begin until you leave yourself behind! This is exactly what film photographer Joanna Fisher Photography done when she visited California's north coastline.
From Joanna: I have visited California many, many times, and I have driven up the coast more than once. But, inspired by a solo trip to Ireland the same year, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and drive a bit further - and instead of revisiting favourite spots, this time, I wanted to explore more. I have always enjoyed visiting the old Spanish Missions throughout the state of California, and I used this as my starting point. I mapped a handful of missions along the northern coast that I had never seen before, and as I travelled from point to point, I made sure to ask the friendly faces I met along the way what they recommended I stopped to see.
Because of the openness, I felt from locals and fellow travellers alike, I saw so much beauty I may not have otherwise stumbled upon. Being from the small coastal New England state of Connecticut, I easily forget just how vast the state of California is - and how different every region can be. This trip reminded me of that, and I am so grateful I stopped to see the unexpected beauty of the North!
My background is as a wedding & lifestyle photographer, shooting both digital and film to create authentic, soft and natural fine art photographs. Working primarily with natural light to give my work a beautiful, light and airy touch infused with soft tones.
I have always appreciated and valued the simple things in life and finding the interesting in the ordinary. Coco Lane was founded as I wanted to create something that is about an experience, the slower pace of life, cosiness and candlelight, cuddling up on the sofa with loved ones, being with the people you love, sharing food with close friends, a feeling of home, nurturing a chosen career, wanderlust travels, savouring the small moments in everyday life and just being you and enjoying a cup of tea.
I'm excited to bring you stories that promote all those moments in life that give us value and meaning; inspiring us to live beautifully.
"I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is. Go at it full speed. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good" - Roald Dahl
