Caye Caulker

With the weather, this weekend notably milder, am I the only one daydreaming about travelling to the beach!? With white sand, turquoise water and breathtaking views - sigh!  Today's wanderlust visit, thanks to photographer Ines Zrinski we can spend this Monday morning daydreaming together at the thought of being on the small island of Caye Caulker.

From Ines: Surrounded by a calm turquoise sea and lush green landscape, the little Belizean island of Caye Caulker is the perfect embodiment of island living, where the only means of transportation are golf carts and bicycles and the trees are often toting hammocks rocking in the breeze.

At the far end of the island there’s a popular spot, The Lazy Lizard, where you can grab a Belikin, the local beer, and dangle your legs in the water as you watch boats lazily pass through the channel that divides the island in two.

When you visit, make sure to rent a bike and explore every part of the little island finding friendly wandering dogs, tranquil mangrove tree lined beaches, and talkative locals who will give you advice on the best restaurants and pubs.

Definitely grab a morning latte at Ice and Beans on the beach before heading off for an all day tour of the reef with Caveman Snorkeling Tours--but do book in advance as they are very popular.

(The gentleman in one of the photos is Caveman giving a morning briefing and the dog with the coconut is his.)

For this trip, I challenged myself to only use my Pentax 645n, which resulted in people asking about the massive camera I was toting around and why it sounded like a tank when I took a photo. I can’t wait to visit again!

My background is as a wedding & lifestyle photographer, shooting both digital and film to create authentic, soft and natural fine art photographs. Working primarily with natural light to give my work a beautiful, light and airy touch infused with soft tones.

I have always appreciated and valued the simple things in life and finding the interesting in the ordinary.  Coco Lane was founded as I wanted to create something that is about an experience, the slower pace of life, cosiness and candlelight, cuddling up on the sofa with loved ones, being with the people you love, sharing food with close friends, a feeling of home, nurturing a chosen career, wanderlust travels, savouring the small moments in everyday life and just being you and enjoying a cup of tea.

I'm excited to bring you stories that promote all those moments in life that give us value and meaning; inspiring  us to live beautifully.

"I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life.  If you are interested in something, no matter what it is. Go at it full speed.  Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it.  Lukewarm is no good" - Roald Dahl
