Alfresco Tablescape Styling

Who else is loving this gorgeous English sunshine? The warmer weather is here and here with a bang. The best news yet, it’s here to stay! It is so wonderful to see everyone enjoying the warmer longer nights, hosting Sunday lunches with family and friends, even just finding a shady spot to relax and spend more time outdoors.

Today I’m sharing my top 5 tips how to style an alfresco dinner table in your garden.

Tablescape

My favourite part… Be sure to pick only pick two or three key hues including your metallic. This ensures a stylish, sleek and elegant feel. Right now, my favourites include pops of modern colours such as whites, blacks and golds mixed with bright colours. The easiest way to change the look and feel of any tablescape is to change the colour of glassware – this makes a huge difference. Finish off the tablescape look by adding different textures and prints to your outdoor dining table.

If you are hosting a Summer Dinner Party, we love the idea of creating bespoke personalised menus – a lovely added touch to impress your guests.

Floral Design

Add some depth, colour and life to your dining table by displaying some beautiful flowers or plants – better still if these are home-grown. Style with candles, vases and table runners suited to your colour palette. Table runners work very well to bring softness to a rectangular table and always add a level of prettiness.

Seating

When hosting any dinner party, there should be a range of seating available. From wooden benches, dining chairs, sun-lounges to scattered cushions on the floor, the options really are endless. We love the idea of having different guest touch points throughout the evening. You could host welcome drinks on the benches, followed by dinner and evening chills on the scattered cushions. Select a variety of cushions for chairs and benches. Mix and match patterns and prints with different colours, textures and tones.

Lighting

Lighting is one of the key factors to consider for any celebration. The options are endless for outdoor lighting, consider incorporating down lighting, lanterns, garden bollards or fairy lights depending on the type of look you are looking to achieve. Evening temperatures can quickly drop in the Summer and consider lighting a sturdy fire pit to keep your party going well into the night and add to your lighting effect. We adore creating an intimate ambience by lighting lots of candles in lanterns, candle sticks on your stylish dining table and different sized candle holders displayed around the garden.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere is key to any celebration. Create a playlist of your favourite songs and artists with different genres to cater for all guests. Ensure there is plenty of food and wine for everyone. We love serving a range of different drinks throughout the evening. Perhaps welcome guests with a refreshing cocktail, followed by delicious wine to compliment the meal and an after-dinner drink such as a sweet wine or spirit, similar to an Amaretto, our favourite!

In summary, keep things stylish, create a damn good playlist, keep guests entertained and most importantly enjoy the evening. Wishing you all a wonderful Summer ahead. Happy Summer!

Events with style, events that get remembered!

I have a passion for all things beautiful and I'm inspired by: weddings, fashion, interior design and travel. I adore the simple things in life and slow living. When I’m not designing weddings and events you’ll no doubt find me drinking tea, practising yoga, reading, listening to Jazz music or sipping on some delicious wine. If I’m asked to describe my style, I would say classic, elegant and living my brand. I’m a real romantic at heart and a lover of all love stories!

My dream wedding is an intimate outdoor ceremony hosted at a beautiful manor house with a stunning outside pool. A super Jazz band, carefully-crafted cocktails and delicious nibbles followed by a relaxed dinner under twinkling lights and candlelight, which turns into an all-night dancing party.
