Introducing AKP Branding

On the blog today, I'm excited to introduce lifestyle and branding photographer AKP Branding, not only because Amanda is a talented photographer in her own right but because she is also a valued Coco Lane curation member.

AKP Branding specialises in providing photography for the food, beverage, hospitality and wedding industry with a style that can be suited to any artisan or creative business.  So without further ado, I'll now pass you over to Amanda to share more insight into her business with you.....

Can you tell us about your business?

I am a lifestyle and branding photographer, specialising in telling stories.  The story of your business, your brand or moments in your life.  For me, photography should be about showcasing the emotion or feeling of a moment, be that the passion a chef puts into a carefully crafted dish, or the attention to detail a designer stitches into the gorgeous fabric of someone’s wedding dress.

In a world of online shopping and a business’s first impression being made online and not face to face, imagery is increasingly important in showcasing beautiful products and services.  This is what drives me when working with businesses and artisan producers, my approach is to really capture the essence of the business so that their customers are instantly engaged and want to buy from them!

Whilst I am based in London and Essex, travel is a huge part of our lives, so I am always happy to pack up the camera gear to go where the story is!

What is your workflow process?

I start by really getting to know a business’ brand and personality as that is in essence what I am capturing.  So I start with a consultation over Skype to understand the brand values, who their target audience is and the purpose of the images.  Then it’s time to start planning the shoot, from locations, props, outfits, styled setups, etc.  This is definitely a collaborative approach as I want my clients to be really engaged in the shoot, especially if they are being photographed and not just their products, it helps to build that trust and ensure they are comfortable and relaxed on shoot day.

When it comes to shoot day, that’s when the real fun is!  All the plans and ideas come alive, and some more as there are always creative ideas that come out to play whilst the camera is out.

Following the shoot, it’s time to start processing the images, each image is edited by me (no outsourcing here) to my signature style to bring the image to life. All clients receive high and low res images so that they can be used for online and print marketing.  Some of our clients also opt for gorgeous fine art prints to create a beautifully bound portfolio to take to their own client consultations.

What kind of clients do you work with?

I work with creatives and artisans mainly.  From chefs, restaurateurs, designers, florists, wedding industry pros, you name it, if they are creative then I work with them!  I love working with creative entrepreneurs, they have a great outlook and approach to what they do and their business, their passion is evident and it’s what drives me to really capture that essence, for their clients and customers.

Where do you find inspiration?

London fills me with inspiration, it’s everywhere you look, from the gorgeous tree lined streets of West London to the sprawling parks throughout the city and the urban edge in East London.  I’m also drawn to lots of gorgeous inspiration on Instagram as well as beautiful magazines like Flutter Magazine and my endless supply of recipe books with stunning photography in them (the recipes are pretty yummy too!)

What challenges have you set yourself for the next 12 months?

I am going to launch the AKP Branding Stories website later this year, giving it its own home, separate to the weddings.  This will really allow me to showcase the amazing brands and businesses I get to shoot as well as providing the perfect arena for sharing advice and tips on creating a more beautifully visible brand.  Aligned with this brand is hopefully some other exciting projects that will really help businesses with their imagery and online presence.  It’s going to be a very exciting time here 😊

My background is as a wedding & lifestyle photographer, shooting both digital and film to create authentic, soft and natural fine art photographs. Working primarily with natural light to give my work a beautiful, light and airy touch infused with soft tones.

I have always appreciated and valued the simple things in life and finding the interesting in the ordinary.  Coco Lane was founded as I wanted to create something that is about an experience, the slower pace of life, cosiness and candlelight, cuddling up on the sofa with loved ones, being with the people you love, sharing food with close friends, a feeling of home, nurturing a chosen career, wanderlust travels, savouring the small moments in everyday life and just being you and enjoying a cup of tea.

I'm excited to bring you stories that promote all those moments in life that give us value and meaning; inspiring  us to live beautifully.

"I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life.  If you are interested in something, no matter what it is. Go at it full speed.  Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it, and above all become passionate about it.  Lukewarm is no good" - Roald Dahl
